Nanyang Polytechnic’s (NYP’s) competitors have done us proud at the 41st World Skills Competition (WSC) by winning 2 Golds, 1 Bronze and 3 Medallions for Excellence. NYP won gold medals for Caring and IT Network System Administration, bronze in Visual Merchandising, as well as medallions for Graphic Design, Mobile Robotics and CNC Milling.
In the Caring category, this is the third consecutive win since it entered the competition in 2007. The gold award in Caring is won by two Diploma in Nursing graduates, Rachel Chloe Chua and Jaslyn Li Kaiyun. The duo also won the ‘Best of Nation’ award, an accolade given to each country’s best performers.

NYP’s prowess in the IT arena is also proven with Jared Sim Mong Khim bagging the gold medal in IT Network Systems Administration. Jared, a third year Diploma in Business Enterprise IT student, follows in the footsteps of a string of NYP competitors who have done well in IT competition areas at the WSC since 2005.
NYP’s track record in IT includes gold medals in Information Technology – Software Applications (2005 WSC), Information Technology - PC/Network Support (2005 and 2009 WSCs), as well as two Albert Vidal awards which are given to an overall top competitor in the competition.

Another NYP competitor who did well in WSC 2011 is Loh Yi Qi. She won a bronze medal in Visual Merchandising.
