the interview is as below:
- How you feel about the competition this year? How you find the other teams in the competition?
Mr.Lim: "This year competition is very competitive compared to last year. There were many strong teams from all over the world to compete in Taiwan. There were teams from Taiwan local universities, UK , Korea and other countries as well. Among them i found Taiwan teams are pretty strong. They sent 6 teams this year while last year they only sent 3 teams for this FIRA competition. They are all very good in robotic area.NYP sent 3 Robots to join this competition and we managed to win some of the events from the competition. "
- How long the teams took to do all the preparation for the FIRA 2011 in Taiwan?
Mr.Lim: "We started to join these FIRA competitions since year 2007, and now this year was the 5th time. Every year there are more events are created for the competition. In year 2007 there were only 4 events in the competition but now it's increased to 8 events. So every year we expecting there's more new events coming out in the competition and we will get to prepare for the competition earlier. This year we started the preparation around March. Within this short period, we assembled the robots, set the programmes and also the details as well as the other minor areas to make the robots work perfectly. "
- What you want to say to the coming generation of potential students who want to join this exciting robotic team?
Mr.Lim: "Participating in all these robotic competitions is all about hardwork. When the hardwork paid off, we can really feel the satisfaction. The satisfaction of finishing a robot, the satisfaction of seeing our own robot on the stages, the satisfaction of winning medals from the competition...and more. I believe through all these a student can really get to earn a very fruitful experience and might help them to strike in their future endeavor. SO, anyone who are interested, YOU SHOULD JOIN!"
- Who to contact if students feel like joining the team?
Mr.Lim: "For those who are really interested in robot you can come to meet me or Mr. Wong. You can come to School of Engineering Block R level 4, we will doing our robots at one of the laboratory there."
So, if you're interested in robots and keen to join the team for competition. You can go to meet Mr Lim or Mr Wong for more details.
