Visit to Pulau Ubin 2011

We Care and Share members have made a trip to Pulau Ubin ,
a small island located at the north east of Singapore.
It's also known as, the "Granite Island".

We departed at Pulau Ubin by small boats.
We met our tour guide there and we didsome introduction among ourself. She is a volunteer helper in the island and she always bring people around the small island.
She is a big Nature Lover and she is very friendly to talk to.
We had a very good time with her.

meeting up session with tour guides.

The very first place we visit is the " Sensory Trail". We find this very interesting as the trail was actually made to allow visually handicapped people to have a chance to explore and experience the nature, by just using their senses of touch and smell.

The trail was formally adopted by Singapore American School and
Singapore Association of Visually Handicapped in year 2000.

There's a garden with varies of plants, such as fruit trees, herbs for cooking, and plants used in traditional medicine.

It took us about 1.5 hours to complete the Sensory Trail.
Right after lunch, we rented bicycles to cycle around the island. There were a lot of tourists like cycling around the island. The sun was blazing and we were perspiring to cycle up to the top of the island to have a full view of the well known Quarry.

We were so surprised when we reached the place. The view is absolutely wonderful.
The spectacular quarry is located at the middle of the island. This numerous granite quarries suppy the local construction industry. In 1970s the granite quaries were closed down and
nowadays the quarries are filled with water.

And finally we came to the end of the trip.
We realised that we learned and earned a very good experience through this trip.
We actually went through some problem while making our trip back to the port.
one of the bicycle was broken down.
But we managed to solve the problem together and we are back sound and safe.
It's all about teamwork and leadership.
We are proud of each other.

This is the spirit of our SEG students.
